Correction Work / Proofreading

The professional proofreader generally works with newspaper articles or "book proofs". Proofreaders correct any errors in grammar, spelling, typography, and style (but do not check the content for accuracy).

When we proofread a foreign-language text we check thoroughly for grammatical and other errors and correct them.  However the style and accuracy cannot be assessed in the absence of the source text.

It often happens that for reasons of cost-cutting, a client company will translate texts in-house and ask us to proofread them. We would like to point out that the quality of a professional translation is much higher than the quality of such a proofread text. (It’s like getting a new car compared to sending the old one to the garage for a service).

Our usual procedure is to make corrections using the 'Track Changes' mode of Microsoft Word. On PDF documents the notes function can be used to add comments.
